Half English and half Spanish she is the daughter of Dennis Alan Taylor a former banker as well as Jennifer Marina Joy a psychologist. Her father, an Argentinean who has Scottish and English origins is also her mother. Her mother is Spanish as well as English descendance. Taylor-Joy is the youngest of five children. Four of them are born from her father's previous marriage. The family she grew up with was living in Buenos Aires from the time she was just six until they moved to Victoria, London. Taylor-Joy stated that the relocation was traumatic and decided to not study English in the hope of return to Argentina. Her school had to change in Northlands to Hill House. After that, she was enrolled at Queen's Gate School, where she took dance classes and appeared in various productions. After she turned 16, she dropped out of school to pursue a full-time career in acting. From a young age Taylor-Joy was aware of her desire to be an actor and her dreams came true when she was approached for a modeling gig at the hands of Sarah Doukas the founder of Storm Management.
